An ultrasound study (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>) revealed an incidental finding of a cystic structure of lobulated morphology, with no Doppler flow inside it. The study was completed with iv contrast enhanced computerised tomography of the neck, with images in the axial and coronal planes where a small cystic tumour was observed with well-defined edges. It was situated in the left supraclavicular space (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#fig0010">Figs. 2 and 3</a>: arrows), between the internal jugular vein and the left subclavian vein. Fine-needle-puncture aspiration was performed with a fine needle, releasing a milky liquid. Given the standard location and characteristics of the material obtained a thoracic superior duct cyst was diagnosed.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0005"></elsevierMultimedia><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0010"></elsevierMultimedia><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0015"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Diagnosis of the thoracic superior duct cyst is a highly infrequent anomaly, described on scarce occasions in the literature. It is a cystic dilation of the terminal part of the thoracic superior duct or one of its main branches. The usual location is the confluence of the jugular and subclavian veins in the left supraclavicular fossa. Standard presentation is an asymptomatic cystic tumour in adults.
