monkeypox.”<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> Ten days after engaging in oral intercourse with a man who had human monkeypox, a 25-year-old male with odynophagia went to the emergency room, according to de Oliveira et al.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> According to de Oliveira et al., this case represents the first instance of an oropharynx/laryngeal presentation of human monkeypox infection in the literature.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> When monitoring a patient with odynophagia who has a high index of suspicion for human monkeypox infection, de Oliveira et al. advised doctors to be mindful of this potential presentation.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a></p><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">We both concur that the monkeypox outbreak is a serious worldwide public health concern right now. It's vital to keep in mind that symptoms of monkeypox can be unusual. There is no question that an individual patient could initially exhibit oropharyngeal and laryngeal symptoms.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0010"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a> Identification of a suspected case of monkeypox is critical when there are clear clinical indications. While not having a fever, some persons may nevertheless have a noticeable skin lesion.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0010"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a> To conclusively confirm the monkeypox infection, a molecular diagnostic is still needed. However, for laboratory testing, quality control is important.
