Los progresos observados en los últimos años en el tratamiento de los tumores germinales de testículo han sido muy relevantes. Su influencia pronostica resulta decisiva y traduce la progresiva apertura de la oncología a nuevos campos y tecnologías. En este artículo de revisión el autor expresa una perspectiva de futuro en el tratamiento de estos tumores germinales para incrementar todavía más las tasas de supervivencia.
Los retos terapéuticos contemplan la consideración de los factores pronósticos, la reducción de la toxicidad de los tratamientos aceptados, la incorporación de nuevas moléculas en línea prioritaria de tratamiento y la moderna aplicación de técnicas de biología molecular en su doble vertiente diagnóstica y terapéutica.
Breakthroughs seen over recent years in the management of testicle germ cell tumours have been very significant. The prognostic influence of such advances has proven to be crucial and translates the progressive opening of oncology to new fields and technologies. In his review, the author articulates a potential target in the management of these germ cells tumours to further increase survival rates. The therapeutic challenges include the consideration of prognostic factors, decreased toxicity of established therapies, addition of new molecules to first line therapy and the recent application of molecular biology techniques to both diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
