I completely agree that plagiarism should be avoided in publications. The critical question is: how to define plagiarism.</p><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Regarding the role of the editors and reviewers of the scientific journals, my opinion is they should concentrate in the originality, relevance, and transferability of the results of the publications. In a word, if the paper/work really contribute something valuable or novel. And at the moment, this work does not seem to be carried out by the automatic text recognition systems, which only analyze the way of expressing things.</p><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Because acting in that way you run the risk of rejecting a good job simply because the author borrowed phrases from other authors to express an original idea.
