In fact, plagiarism is a common problem detected in not only ophthalmology journal but also other kinds of journals. At present we are usually the followers of the plagiarists. Often, we can successfully detect the problem after the plagiarist successfully published the plagiarized article in the journal. For a standard ophthalmology journal, it is suggested that the authors should submit only an unpublished, in any form, article to the journal.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0020"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a> There are two important things that we should discuss regarding plagiarism in academic publication. First, it is an interesting topic for further discussion on how to promote ethical responsibility among our ophthalmology academic society to avoid unethical practice, plagiarism. There are many proposed ideas such as repetitive training and education. However, the problem seems to be a specific unethical behavior which is deeply problem in an unethical person. In fact, it is a good concept to find the way how to prevent the unethical person to do unethical thing. The second issue for discussion is how to set an effective tool to screen for plagiarism before the problematic work can successfully invade barrier to appear in the final published form. Although there are several tools for screening, no tools is completely effective in plagiarism screening.
