She presented with an episode of intraretinal fluid including retinal schisis with spontaneous resolution. The optic fossette is a congenital defect, presenting as a greyish excavation in the lamina cribrosa. Intra- or sub-retinal fluid when maculopathy occurs is considered as subarachnoid fluid. The dura mater and sclera share their embryological origin, as do the arachnoid and choroid.
