Condrosarcoma de la pared torácica alta

Los tumores primarios de la pared del tórax, y en concreto el condrosarcoma, son bastante infrecuentes, de lento crecimiento y muchas veces asintomáticos hasta alcanzar grandes tamaños. Su cirugía implica la resección de todo el espesor de la pared del tórax, con amplios márgenes de seguridad. Esta cirugía tan agresiva es posible gracias a la existencia de una gran variedad de colgajos útiles para la reconstrucción, fundamentalmente colgajos miocutáneos regionales.
Presentamos un caso raro de condrosarcoma gigante de
la pared torácica alta, sometido a una amplia resección y reconstruido con un colgajo miocutáneo de recto abdominal (TRAM). Con la experiencia adquirida con este colgajo, podemos considerarlo un colgajo seguro, que proporciona una cantidad de tejido suficiente para la reconstrucción de grandes defectos y de gran versatilidad

Primary chest wall tumors, specifically the chondrosarcoma, are quite uncommon. They are slow-growing lesions that often remain asymptomatic until they have grown very large. Surgical treatment involves the resection of the full thickness of the chest wall, with ample safety margins. Such aggressive surgery is possible because of the wide variety of flaps available for reconstruction, particularly regional myocutaneous flaps.
We present a rare case of giant chondrosarcoma of the upper chest wall that was treated by ample resection, followed by reconstruction with a transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flap. With the experience acquired using this flap, we consider it a safe measure that provides enough tissue for the reconstruction of large defects; moreover, it is highly versatile
