Hemangiopericitoma retrorrectal

Se presenta un caso de hemangiopericitoma localizado en el espacio retrorrectal con invasión de las fibras musculares del esfínter externo del ano, tratado quirúrgicamente mediante amputación abdominoperineal. El comportamiento biológico del tumor fue muy agresivo, con aparición precoz de metástasis hepáticas y pulmonares y progresión rápida de la enfermedad sin respuesta al tratamiento quimioterápico. Se comentan las principales características clínicas e histológicas de estos tumores, los métodos de diagnóstico y las posibilidades terapéuticas.

A case is reported of a hemangiopericytoma located in the retrorectal space, with invasion of the muscle fibers of the external anal sphincter. It was treated by means of abdominoperineal resection. The biological behavior of the tumor was highly aggressive, with early liver and lung metastases, rapid disease progression and no response to chemotherapy. The major clinical and histological features of these tumors are described and the diagnostic methods and therapeutic possibilities are discussed.
