Summary

We present the case of a 74 year-old woman with bronchiectasis, concomitantly with abdominal distension and ascites. Vaginal ecography and CT scan showed a solid mass of 10 × 8 cm, suggestive of an ovarian neoplasm.

During vaginal surgery a peritoneal carcinomatosis was found. The patient died within a month of the procedure, without receiving radiotherapy. The tumour was an ovarian serous surface papillary carcinoma.

Resumen

Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 74 años, afectada de bronquiectasias, que presentó distensión abdominal y ascitis; en la ecografía vaginal y la TC se apreciaba masa sólida de 10 ×8 cm indicativa de neoplasia ovárica.

En la intervención se observó una carcinomatosis peritoneal, y la paciente falleció antes del mes de la intervención, sin llegar a recibir quimioterapia.

El tumor era un carcinoma papilar de la superficie serosa del ovario.
