The age of adolescence is a period of rapid growth and development, both physically, psychologically and intellectually.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0085"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> Characteristics of adolescence have a great sense of desire, love adventure and handling and tend to dare to bear the risks and deeds without careful consideration.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0090"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a> The age of adolescence is a period of transition from children to adults and at this time their souls are still full of turmoil. Few of them actually behave deviant, some even lead to sexual abuse, crime and drug abuse.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0095"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">3</span></a></p><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Psychologically, adolescents are a transition period from the beginning of childhood to early adulthood, which is entered at the age of about 10–12 years and ends at the age of 18–22 years.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0100"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">4</span></a> Adolescence begins with rapid physical changes, dramatic weight gain and height, changes in body shape, and the development of sexual characteristics such as enlargement of breasts, development of the waist and mustache, and sound depth. In this development, the achievement of independence and identity is very prominent (thoughts are more logical, abstract, and idealistic) and spend more time outside the family.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0105"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">5</span></a></p><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Factors that influence risky sexual behavior in adolescents include the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents to sexual behavior, the state of economic status, supervision and attention of parents who are increasingly loose due to the busyness and closure of parents in discussing sex.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0110"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">6</span></a> Other factors that influence risky sexual behavior in adolescents are technological advances, supportive facilities at home such as DVD players and the internet, promiscuity, the most dominant environmental influences and pornographic films, not receiving the right sex education and the relationship between pornographic sites and peers and courtship.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0115"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">7</span></a> According to Brown Adolescents who read magazines with sexual content are more likely to encourage sexual behavior.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0120"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">8</span></a> Teenagers who see adult pornography are 4 times more likely to have sex.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0125"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">9</span></a></p><p id="par0020" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The role of parents in communication with adolescents is limited in certain matters such as education, learning, health or finance. While for social problems and especially sexual problems, adolescents tend to ask more questions to friends and girlfriends.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0130"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">10</span></a> Research Brook states that family poverty is associated with difficulties in parent–child relationships.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0135"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">11</span></a></p><p id="par0025" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">According to World Health Organization (WHO), 11% of all births worldwide are deliveries of adolescents aged 15–19 years, and most in low and middle income countries. 2014 World Health Statistics places global teen birth rates at 49 per 1000 girls. Research by Angel et al., states that adolescents use condoms less frequently when they have sex, placing those at higher risk for sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0140"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">12</span></a></p><p id="par0030" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Data from the City of Makassar based on a survey conducted by the Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) found that the number of teenagers who had had sex at junior high to high school age reached 47–54%. Nationally, it is even higher reaching 63% while 21% of them have had abortions. While data from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Caring for AIDS (2015) state that people with HIV and AIDS in Makassar City, 1% are teenagers.</p><p id="par0035" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Data from research on high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents, especially high school (SMU) students in Makassar City is still minimal, while based on the above data, the impact of risky sexual behavior on adolescents in Makassar City is very worrying. Research is needed to look at the factors that can influence adolescents to carry out high risk sexual behavior.</p></span><span id="sec0010" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0040">Method</span><span id="sec0015" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0045">Location and design of research</span><p id="par0040" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">This research was conducted in March–April 2019 at 8th Vocational High School and MegaRezky Health Vocational School in Makassar City. The type of research used was observational analytic with cross sectional design.</p></span><span id="sec0020" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0050">Population and sample</span><p id="par0045" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The population in this study were adolescents who attended school between the ages of 15 and 18 at the 8th Vocational High School and the Mega Rezky Health Vocational School of Makassar, which sat in Class II with as many as 400 people. A sample of 200 people selected proportionally random sampling who met the inclusion criteria were adolescents aged 15–18 who were in Class II at Vocational High School 8 and Mega Rezky Health Vocational School Makassar and were willing to become research respondents by signing an agreement after explanation.</p></span><span id="sec0025" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0055">Method of collecting data</span><p id="par0050" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Data collection is done by obtained by using the interview directly to students and filled by the respondents themselves.</p></span><span id="sec0030" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0060">Data analysis</span><p id="par0055" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The data analysis used was univariate analysis which was conducted to get a general picture of the research problem. To see the effect of each independent variable on the dependent, bivariate analysis was used using the Chi-square test (<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">χ</span><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span>). Then multivariate analysis was conducted to analyze the effect of several variables on other variables at the same time using multiple logistic regression tests.</p></span></span><span id="sec0035" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0065">Results</span><p id="par0060" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall"><a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0005">Table 1</a> shows that based on the results of hypothesis testing using Chi-square (<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">χ</span><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span>) obtained <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span>-value (0.000)<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span><<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span><span class="elsevierStyleItalic">α</span> (0.05), this shows that there is a relationship between conditions/situations with risky sexual behavior in adolescents at SMKN 8 and SMK Kesehatan Mega Rezky Makassar. Of the 143 respondents who took advantage of the conditions/conditions that supported them, more of them carried out high-risk sexual behavior as many as 83 people (58%) compared to low-risk sexual behavior. Whereas from 57 respondents in situations and conditions that did not support, there were more people who carried out low-risk sexual behavior as many as 44 people (77.2%) compared to high-risk sexual behavior.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0005"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0065" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall"><a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0010">Table 2</a> shows that based on the results of hypothesis testing using Chi-square (<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">χ</span><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span>) obtained <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span>-value (0.522)<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span><span class="elsevierStyleItalic">α</span> (0.05), this shows that there is no relationship between knowledge and risky sexual behavior in adolescents at SMKN 8 and SMK Kesehatan Mega Rezky Makassar. Of the 157 respondents who were included in the good category, most of them had risky sexual behaviors in the low category, namely as many as 84 people (53.5%) compared to the high category. While from 43 respondents in the less category, the most had high risk sexual behavior which was as much as 23 people (53.3%) compared to low risk people.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0010"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0070" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall"><a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0015">Table 3</a> shows that based on the results of hypothesis testing using Chi-square (<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">χ</span><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span>) obtained <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span>-value (0.108)<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span><span class="elsevierStyleItalic">α</span> (0.05), this shows that there is no relationship between attitudes and risky sexual behavior in adolescents at SMKN 8 and SMK Kesehatan Mega Rezky Makassar. Of 125 respondents who were included in the positive category, most of them had risky sexual behavior in the low category, namely 71 people (56.8%) compared to the high category. Whereas from 75 respondents who have negative attitudes, most have high risk sexual behavior, namely 42 people (56%) compared to low risk ones.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0015"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0075" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall"><a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0020">Table 4</a> shows that based on the results of hypothesis testing using Chi-square (<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">χ</span><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span>) obtained <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span>-value (0.326)<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span><span class="elsevierStyleItalic">α</span> (0.05), this shows that there is no relationship between the role of parents and risky sexual behavior in adolescents at SMKN 8 and SMK Kesehatan Mega Rezky Makassar. From 147 respondents whose parents’ parenting was in the good category, most respondents who had low risk sexual behavior were 80 (54.4%) compared to high-risk sexual behavior. Whereas from 53 respondents whose parenting was included in the less category, most respondents had high risk sexual behavior, namely 29 (54.7%) compared to low risk sexual behavior.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0020"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0080" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall"><a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0025">Table 5</a> shows that after multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression, it was found that until the feasibility test phase to carry out a multivariate test and step 3 variable analysis that is constant and has a value of <<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">α</span> 0.05 is a variable condition/situation. This shows that the most influential variable on risky sexual behavior is the condition/situation.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0025"></elsevierMultimedia></span><span id="sec0040" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0070">Discussion</span><p id="par0085" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">In this study, it can be seen that the factors that significantly influence <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">high risk sexual behavior in adolescents</span> are the condition/situation. Research shows that there is a significant relationship between conditions/situations together in places that are quiet with high risk sexual behavior in adolescents. This means that conditions or situations are lonely and supportive of carrying out high-risk sexual behavior. Adolescents usually tend to engage in high-risk sexual behavior clandestinely for reasons of shame and fear of being known by others. This is in line with research conducted by Taufik the geographical proximity of parents and their children does not guarantee the control of sexual behavior in adolescents they.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0145"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">13</span></a> so when her parents are not at home the teenager can take the opportunity to have sexual relations or engage in high-risk sexual behavior.</p><p id="par0090" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">This study shows there is no significant relationship between knowledge and high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents. This means that good or lack of level of knowledge a person does not have an influence on high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents. This is not in line with the research conducted by Fitriana namely there is a meaningful relationship between knowledge about premarital sex and environmentally controlled sexual behavior in students at Semarang XX Vocational School.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0150"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">14</span></a></p><p id="par0095" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">This study showed no significant relationship between attitudes and high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents. Positive or negative meaning a person's attitude does not have an influence on high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents. This is not in line with the Ningsih study which showed the results that there was a significant relationship between attitudes and premarital sexual behavior at SMK Bhakti Persada Kendal.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0155"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">15</span></a> Many factors can influence attitudes, among others, the influence of others who are considered important by individuals tend to have a conformist attitude or in line with the attitude of people who are considered important.</p><p id="par0100" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Research shows that there is no significant relationship between the role of parents and high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents. This means that many parents, even though they have applied good and correct parenting to children, but there are other factors that cause children to do deviant behavior, especially high-risk sexual behavior, and there are still many teenagers who are closed to tell about their sexual problems. This is in line with the research conducted by Gustina showing that parent-teen communication is the dominant variable associated with risky sexual behavior in adolescents.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0160"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">16</span></a></p></span><span id="sec0045" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0075">Conclusions</span><p id="par0105" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">It can be concluded that the condition/situation has a significant effect on high risk sexual behavior in adolescents.
