He had a history of significant promiscuity and engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse for the past 6 years but denied sex with men. Physical examination showed several erythematous-violet papules, although some were isolated punctate lesions on the face and neck with a vesicular nodular lesion located on the right cheek (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>A). The right shoulder had two violaceus nodulus and some erythematous-violet papules that formed plaques round; some were isolated, others were confluent, with polycyclic forms which extended to the back (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>B). Laboratory studies revealed a positive PCR for HIV. Histopathological findings showed fusiform cells distributed in the dermis that outline irregular vascular lumens and blood extravasation with atypia and mitosis. A diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma in an HIV-positive patient was made.
