Fundamento

Analizar los determinantes delconsumo de medicamentos en la poblacióninfantil.

Método

Análisis de las entrevistas a losmenores de 15 años (n = 2.433) de la Encuestade Salud de Cataluña.

Resultados

La frecuencia de consumo (dosdías previos) fue del 25%. Los factoresasociados al consumo fueron la edad baja,vivir en Barcelona (OR = 1,3), declarar doblecobertura (OR = 1,6), haber visitado unprofesional sanitario (OR = 2,4) y declararproblemas de salud.

Conclusiones

El consumo de medicamentosen la población infantil es alto. Es necesariomejorar la educación familiar y del profesionalsanitario respecto del consumo demedicamentos.

To analyse the correlates ofdrug consumption in children's population.

Method

Analyse interviews correspondingto children younger than 15 years old ofthe Catalan Health Survey (n = 2,433)

Results

The 25% consumed some drug inthe previous 2 days. The factors related todrug consumption were low age, living inBarcelona (OR = 1.3), reporting double coverage(OR = 1.6), physician visits in thepast 15 days (OR = 2.4), and reporting healthproblems.

Conclusions

Drug consumption in childrenis high. It seems necessary to improve theeducation of families and health professionalsrelated to drug consumption.
