Fundamento

Analizar los problemas de saludde los niños extranjeros adoptados en España.

Pacientes y método

Estudio de 135 historiasclínicas en un hospital de Madrid para determinarla prevalencia de malnutrición,anemia, parasitosis y otras enfermedades.

Resultados

Un 18,9% de los niños estabatotalmente sano, un 37,8% presentaba unaúnica enfermedad y un 43,3%, dos o más.El 32,3% presentaba anemia, el 30,2% parasitosisy el 25,2% malnutrición.

Conclusiones

La elevada morbilidad detectadademuestra la necesidad de atenciónmédica específica para este grupo de niños.

Background

We decided to assess the healthproblems of internationally adoptedchildren in Spain.

Patients and method

Retrospective study of135 medical records from the HospitalNiño Jesus, Madrid. The prevalence of malnutrition,anemia, parasitosis and other acquiredand congenital diseases was studied.

Results

18.9% of children were consideredcompletely healthy; 37.8% children had asingle disease and 43.3% had two or more.32.3% were found to have anemia, 30.2%parasitosis and 25.2% malnutrition.

Conclusions

The high morbidity figures observedin our study reinforces the need ofspecial medical care in this group of children.
