Placenta previa
Placenta membranácea
Histerectomía obstétrica
Retención placentaria
Hemorragia del alumbramiento
Abstract

Placenta membranacea and placenta increta are infrequent entities. However, they are highly important because they usually cause severe hemorrhage and can lead to hysterectomy. These entities are usually associated with placenta previa, previous uterine surgery (caesarean section, curettage), and multiple gestation, among other factors. The possibility of an antepartum diagnosis and the various treatment modalities are discussed

Key Words:
Placenta increta
Placenta praevia
Placenta membranacea
Postpartum hysterectomy
Retained placenta
Postpartum hemorrhage
