El aneurisma congénito del ventrículo izquierdo es una malformación cardíaca infrecuente caracterizada por la dilatación de la pared ventricular, cuya historia natural no es bien conocida y, al contrario de lo que ocurre en el divertículo ventricular congénito, no se asocia con otras malformaciones. El pronóstico de esta afección depende de su tamaño y localización, así como de su crecimiento durante el embarazo. En el aneurisma congénito del ventrículo izquierdo subvalvular el pronóstico empeora por la alteración de la función de la válvula mitral. En nuestro caso, así como en el único caso publicado hasta la fecha, se produjo un considerable crecimiento del aneurisma, lo que finalmente condujo a un desenlace perinatal desfavorable
Congenital aneurysm of the left ventricle is an infrequent cardiac anomaly characterised by the protrusion of the ventricle wall. The natural history of the disease is not well known and unlike congenital ventricular diverticula, is not associated with other malformations. Prognosis seems to be greatly dependent on the size and location of the aneurysm, as well as on its growth during pregnancy. In subvalvular congenital aneurysm of the left ventricle, prognosis is worsened by an alteration of the function of the mitral valve. In our case, as well as in the only one published to date, there was considerable growth of the aneurysm, leading to a highly unfavourable perinatal result
