Summary
Objective

To study the clinical and radiographic features of breast hamartomas.

Results

Of 15 patients with a histological diagnosis of hamartoma, 12 patients (80%) clinically presented a palpable lump. Mammograms showed a well defined benign mass in 12 patients (80%).

Conclusions

Breast hamartomas are a highly uncommon entity within benign breast disease. These lesions may be missed by pathologists not specifically looking for them, since they are composed of normal breast tissue and clinically they can go unnoticed because of their variable consistency and size.
