Abstract

One of the adverse effects of radiotherapy is the development of sarcomas in the irradiated area. We describe a case of vulvar epidermoid carcinoma treated with radical vulvectomy (postsurgical staging: T2 pN1 +/26 Mx) and subsequent radiotherapy. Twenty-one months after the operation, a fusocellular sarcoma developed in the same location as the primitive epidermoid tumor. Wide excision of the tumor was performed and eighteen months later no tumoral recurrence has occurred. The relationship between irradiation and the development of sarcoma in this particular location is discussed
