Article information

Anisakiasis is a parasitic disease acquired by eating raw or poorly cooked fish infested with nematode larvae of the Anisakiadae family.

The diagnosis of this parasitic disease is difficult if the epidemiolo-gical background is overlooked because the symptoms of presentation are non-specific. Therefore, in patients with a picture of acute abdomen and a recent history of eating raw fish, echography and/or abdominal CT may yield a diagnosis.
