Summary

A prospective study on the quality of life in 62 patients who received a heart transplant in our Center has been performed, analyzing the objective parameters (return to work, physical activity, sexual activity and associated incapacitating pathology) as well as the subjective parameters (perception of physical and psychic status, depression, changes in personal relationships, leisure activity and subjective capacity to work).

A total of 71% of the transplanted patient had a good perception of both their physical as well as psychological state of health, 38.7% considered that they were capable of working, but only 26.6% of them did so, a percentage that is much lower than in other series.

In addition, 91.9% presented some associated pathology which was perceived by them to be incapacitating to a greater or lesser degree, especially in the locomotor apparatus (muscular weakness, myalgias, arthralgias and back pain), pathology that was frequently responsible for the sensation of work incapacity and that was only treated in 56.6% and only evaluated by a Rehabilitation Physician in 26.6%.
