Summary

The term brain damage includes the lesions of any etiology that are produced in a previously developed brain. Its incidence is constantly increasing in our setting.

This continuous increase, especially at the expense of young adults, has made brain damage one of the priorities of the developed health care systems.

Simultaneously, better knowledge of the brain plasticity capacity has strengthened the development of early intervention, multidisciplinary, rehabilitation programs whose objective is to recover the maximum personal autonomy possible.

In addition, the improvement of the neuroimaging techniques have provided us highly diagnostic tools, the development of re-learning programs linked to specific tasks, and the possibilities of new technologies of rehabilitation allow us to offer very individualized therapeutic programs.

The State Center of Brain Damage Care (CEADAC) was created as a center of state reference, and with socio-health care vocation, to respond to the needs of these patients and their families, improving their quality of life.
