Introducción
La degeneración macular relacionada con la edad es causa de discapacidad en los adultos mayores, ya que afecta de manera sustancial su calidad de vida e incrementa el riesgo de depresión.
MétodosRevisión narrativa acerca del tema.
ResultadosSe discute el efecto de la depresión en pacientes mayores con discapacidad visual y se resumen las intervenciones existentes para detectar y disminuir en ellos la tasa de depresión.

Abstract
Age-related macular degeneration is a cause for disability in the elderly since it greatly affects their quality of life and increases depression likelihood. This article discusses the negative effect depression has on patients with age-related macular degeneration and summarizes the interventions available for decreasing their depression index.
