Osteocondroma

Sindesmosis
Resección en bloque

Two solitary osteochondromas of the distal tibiofibular area in two adult patients are reported. It is reminded the pathology, its significance in the skeletal ankle development and its surgical treatment. In conclusion, unusual solitary osteochondromas at that location don’t seem to be a significant risk factor for a further development of tibiotalar osteoarthritis. However they can cause pain and may require the in-bloc resection, a relatively simple procedure through an anterolateral approach.

Key words:
Osteochondroma
Ankle
Syndesmosis
In-bloc resection
