The ankle arthrodesis is an effective technique for the surgical treatment of a number of alterations and diseases of the ankle joint.

We report our experience on 20 cases of tibiotalar arthrodesis performed over the last 8 years in our hospital. The main cause was trauma. The most often used surgical technique was that of cannulated screws. The surgical technique and postoperative treatment are described. We discuss the complications and the results obtained using the AOFAS scale, with an average postoperative score of 71 points. All patients were satisfied with the operation results. We compare our results with those of the consulted bibliography. We conclude that ankle arthrodesis is a good therapeutic option for pain or deformity of the ankle not responding to conservative treatment, with good long term results.
