Resumen

Summary

. Actinic reticuloid is a chronic photodermatosis which is typical of elderly patients and that is characterized by the presence of papules and erythematous-edematous plaques that evolve into residual pigmented macula which are located, in the beginning, in sun-exposed areas and in relationship to the exposure to daytime light.

We describe a typical case of this rare entity in a 70 year old male patient followed-up periodically by our service due to frequent exacerbations of his clinical picture. This consists in erythema, edema and desquamation together with signs of chronic actinic dermatitis in sun-exposed zones that evolve to erythematous-scaly papule with intense itching. The diagnosis is carried out through the clinical history, the characteristic evolution in episodes and after verifying that the cutaneous lesions worsen after exposure to radiant energy sources.

We consider that this entity is due to an extreme sensitivity to a wide radiation spectrum and possibly forms a part of chronic actinic dermatitis.
