Thus far, their study is one of the largest on the interesting topic of lymphoscintigraphy findings in lipedema patients and the authors should be commended in this regard.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0025">1</a>However, in my opinion the interpretation of the lymphoscintigraphy images in their study is incomplete. Most studies use a semi-quantitative approach using the ratio of inguinal nodes to injection site uptake. This semi-quantitative analysis provides a reproducible way of image interpretation and all studies reported lymphatic drainage alteration in lipedema patients. However compared to lymphedema patients, the impairment is less severe. On the other hand, Forner-Cordero et al. used a semi-quantitative analysis which is ambiguous. How was scoring done for inguinal uptake? Did they use an area such as injection site or liver for comparison of inguinal uptake?They concluded that due to “frequent alterations in the patients with lipedema, the presence of findings does not discount a diagnosis of lipedema”. As no robust semi-quantitative index (such as inguinal to injection site ratio) is given, the conclusion seems incomplete as previous studies showed that despite lymphatic drainage compromise in lipedema, semi-quantitative indices can provide a good differentiation between lipedema and lymphedema.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0030">2–4</a>" "pdfFichero" => "main.pdf" "tienePdf" => true "NotaPie" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "etiqueta" => "☆" "nota" => "Please cite this article as: Sadeghi R. The Revista Española de Medicina Nuclear e Imagen Molecular (Spanish Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging), was founded in 1982, and is the official journal of the Spanish Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, which has more than 700 members. The Journal, which publishes 6 regular issues per year, has the promotion of research and continuing education in all fields of Nuclear Medicine as its main aim. For this, its principal sections are Originals, Clinical Notes, Images of Interest, and Special Collaboration articles. The works may be submitted in Spanish or English and are subjected to a peer review process. In 2009, it became the leading Spanish journal in the field of Medical Imaging on having an Impact Factor , awarded by the Journal Citation Reports.
