Thoughts and proposals on possible changes in Primary and Community Education in Europe and other places after the COVID19 pandemic

Editado por Josep Maria Vilaseca - Althaia University Assistance Network of Manresa.
Antoni Dedeu - World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the weaknesses of primary care in most countries. At the same time, it has been a boost for the acceleration of innovations and changes both in the provision of services and in the daily activity of primary care professionals. The articles selected in this Special Issue contribute to reflection but at the same time allow us to envision the primary care of the future based on documented initiatives from different perspectives and subject areas. This Special Issue describes upgrades that have been promoted in demand management, redefinition of professional roles and multidisciplinary teams, accessibility in rural areas, population health management methods, digital health, and management of chronicity and multimorbidity in Europe. Examples of primary care upgrades in Central Asia, Eastern Europe and the Belgian Flanders region are described together with the role of the primary care related scientific societies in Europe and the role of family medicine at the university.
