with no medical history underwent an abdominal CT scan to study symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Incidentally, this examination demonstrated complete anatomical continuity between the left hepatic lobe and the spleen, adequately visualizing the splenic hilum and the arrival of the left suprahepatic vein to the spleen (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>). This anatomical anomaly is called hepatosplenic fusion. It is extremely rare, asymptomatic, and was first described during an autopsy in 1978 by JD Cotelingam et al.
