The patient is a 62-year-old woman with a history of cholecystectomy through a midline laparotomy in 1999. She was assessed in the outpatient clinic for an incisional hernia. Computed tomography scan detected a heterogeneous mass dependent on the ileal loop, suggestive of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) and two incisional hernias (M2, M3-W1) (Fig. 1).
During surgery, en bloc resection of the tumor and ileal segment (5cm) was performed, with a mechanical side-to-side anastomosis and Chevrel hernia repair technique. The patient’s postoperative progress was correct.
The pathological study reported a mass covered by a fibrous capsule and multiple elongated structures of non-biological material, compatible with a textiloma (Fig. 2).
