Resumen

En este trabajo se pretende analizar la influencia de los recursos humanos de I+D internos y recién contratados en la innovación, incidiendo particularmente en el efecto complementario que la integración de dichos recursos puede tener en la innovación. Para ello se ha llevado a cabo un estudio empírico de 1.273 empresas industriales españolas. Los resultados alcanzados permiten concluir que si bien los RRHH de I+D, tanto internos como contratados, tienen un efecto individual positivo sobre la innovación, su interacción ejerce una influencia negativa en la misma. No obstante, cuando se analiza el efecto conjunto, los datos reflejan la existencia de un efecto neto positivo en la innovación, a partir de cierto umbral de personal interno que permita desarrollar la capacidad de absorber e integrar el nuevo conocimiento externo.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the influence of internal and hired R&D HR on innovation, focusing on the complementary effect between those sources of knowledge exploration. To achieve this goal, we conducted an empirical research among 1,237 Spanish industrial firms. The results show that although internal and hired R&D HR have a positive individual effect on innovation, when that effect is analyzed jointly, data shows a positive net effect on innovation from certain level of internal R&D personnel that allows absorb and integrate the new external knowledge.
