RESUMEN

Si bien tradicionalmente las vías utilizadas para la transferencia del conocimiento generado en las universidades han sido la publicación de los resultados de investigación en revistas científicas y los contratos con las empresas, en los últimos tiempos se está extendiendo la utilización de otros dos mecanismos: la concesión de licencias a las empresas y la creación de spin-offs. El presente trabajo, por medio de una revisión de la literatura, trata de identificar los factores determinantes de la utilización de las spin-offs como mecanismo de transferencia. Los factores identificados son los siguientes: el interés del investigador, el sistema de incentivos existente en la universidad, las características de la tecnología explotada, el área académica origen de la invención, las características del sector industrial en el que se va a explotar la tecnología, la posible mayor rentabilidad a obtener con este mecanismo de transferencia y las características de las unidades de transferencia de conocimiento universitario.

ABSTRACT

Although traditionally the roads used for the transfer of the knowledge generated in the universities have been the publication of the investigation results in scientific magazines and the contracts with the companies, in the last times he/she is expanding the use of other two mechanisms: the concession of licenses and the spin-offs creation. The present work, by means of a revision of the literature, is about identifying the decisive factors of the use of the spin-offs like transfer mechanism. The identified factors are the following ones: the investigator's interest, the existent system of incentives in the university, the characteristics of the exploited technology, the area academic origin of the invention, the characteristics of the industrial sector in which will exploit the technology, the bigger possible profitability to obtain with this transfer mechanism and the characteristics of the units of transfer.
