Un tercio de la poblaci&#243;n mundial padece enfermedades causadas por par&#225;sitos intestinales<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0150"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">15</span></a>&#46; En &#225;reas tropicales y subtropicales de pa&#237;ses subdesarrollados es donde se observa mayor prevalencia de dichas enfermedades&#44; que son las principales causas de morbilidad y mortalidad<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0120"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">9&#44;15</span></a>&#46; La poblaci&#243;n infantil es la m&#225;s afectada&#44; probablemente debido a su inmadurez inmunol&#243;gica y al escaso desarrollo de h&#225;bitos higi&#233;nicos&#46; La prevalencia de las parasitosis intestinales suele asociarse con factores geogr&#225;ficos y socioecon&#243;micos&#44; con condiciones higi&#233;nico-sanitarias y ambientales deficientes&#44; con falta de acceso a agua segura y con factores conductuales de las poblaciones involucradas<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0140"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">13</span></a>&#46; Seg&#250;n la OMS&#44; en Am&#233;rica Latina la prevalencia de enteroparasitosis oscila entre el 20 y el 30&#37; en la poblaci&#243;n general y entre el 60 y el 80&#37; en poblaciones que habitan zonas altamente end&#233;micas<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0150"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">15</span></a>&#46; En Argentina&#44; la prevalencia de par&#225;sitos intestinales en humanos es heterog&#233;nea&#58; se han informado prevalencias de alrededor del 80&#37; en algunas localidades del norte y sur del pa&#237;s&#44; tambi&#233;n valores cercanos al 45&#37; en la regi&#243;n centro<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0115"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">8&#44;11</span></a>&#46;</p><p id="par0035" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">La prevenci&#243;n de las parasitosis intestinales se orienta a evitar la aparici&#243;n de parasitismo o tratar oportunamente a los pacientes ya enfermos&#46; Una estrategia clave para el control de geohelmintiasis en &#225;reas end&#233;micas es la administraci&#243;n peri&#243;dica de antihelm&#237;nticos &#40;albendazol o mebendazol&#41; a grupos de alto riesgo&#44; aunque no es suficiente para evitar la reinfecci&#243;n o interrumpir la transmisi&#243;n<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0110"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">7</span></a>&#46; La prevenci&#243;n de las parasitosis intestinales debe incluir tambi&#233;n medidas de salud p&#250;blica &#40;por ejemplo&#44; condiciones m&#237;nimas de saneamiento ambiental&#44; acceso a agua potable&#44; mejoras conductuales en higiene&#41; que permitan lograr un control sostenible<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0125"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">10</span></a>&#46; La comunidad puede proporcionar el marco ideal para actividades de promoci&#243;n de la salud dirigidas a prevenir enfermedades y fortalecer los factores de protecci&#243;n de la salud&#46; Es en estos espacios donde se deben concentrar los esfuerzos e incentivar pr&#225;cticas educativas de prevenci&#243;n de enfermedades parasitarias para favorecer a la poblaci&#243;n&#46; En este sentido&#44; las estrategias educativas realizadas junto a padres&#47;familiares&#44; o en los ni&#241;os escolarizados&#44; han demostrado tener un impacto positivo en la salud p&#250;blica en Argentina y otros pa&#237;ses de Sudam&#233;rica<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0090"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">3&#44;5&#44;12&#44;14</span></a>&#46;</p><p id="par0040" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Con la finalidad de contribuir a la construcci&#243;n o la mejora del conocimiento para prevenir enfermedades parasitarias&#44; se llev&#243; a cabo una intervenci&#243;n educativa con las madres y se determin&#243; el estado enteroparasitol&#243;gico de los ni&#241;os menores de cinco a&#241;os asistidos en tres centros de desarrollo infantil &#40;CDI&#41; de la Fundaci&#243;n &#171;Hoy por Ma&#241;ana&#187; en la ciudad de Santa Fe&#44; Argentina&#44; en 2018&#46; Se realiz&#243; un estudio cuasiexperimental&#44; descriptivo&#44; con valoraci&#243;n pre- y posintervenci&#243;n educativa&#44; con un enfoque cuantitativo&#46;</p><p id="par0045" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">La poblaci&#243;n participante comprendi&#243; a todas las madres de ni&#241;os menores de cinco a&#241;os que se encontraban matriculados en el programa de atenci&#243;n de los centros de desarrollo infantil de la Fundaci&#243;n &#171;Hoy por Ma&#241;ana&#187; localizados en distintos distritos de la ciudad de Santa Fe&#44; Argentina &#40;<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0005">tabla 1</a>&#41;&#59; a saber&#58; distrito oeste &#40;&#8722;31&#46;64872 S&#59; &#8722;60&#46;72903 O&#41;&#44; distrito sur-oeste CILSA &#40;&#8722;31&#46;66632 S&#59; &#8722;60&#46;73158 O&#41; y distrito norte &#40;&#8722;31&#46;62445 S&#59; &#8722;60&#46;69884 O&#41;&#46; Los criterios de exclusi&#243;n fueron los siguientes&#58; I&#41; madres que no firmaron el consentimiento informado de participaci&#243;n en el estudio&#59; II&#41; madres que no participaron en los talleres l&#250;dico-educativos&#44; y III&#41; madres que no completaron las encuestas pre- y posintervenci&#243;n educativa&#46; Esta intervenci&#243;n apunt&#243;&#44; fundamentalmente&#44; al conocimiento de las parasitosis intestinales y su prevenci&#243;n&#59; se analizaron los cambios ocurridos despu&#233;s de su implementaci&#243;n&#46; El trabajo se llev&#243; a cabo desde una perspectiva constructivista&#46; Se utilizaron situaciones cotidianas de la poblaci&#243;n&#44; de modo que las madres tuvieran la oportunidad de relacionar el tema abordado con sus conocimientos previos&#46; De esta manera&#44; se busc&#243; articular los saberes con los conocimientos t&#233;cnico-cient&#237;ficos abordados en esta intervenci&#243;n&#46; La intervenci&#243;n abarc&#243; tres etapas&#58; diagn&#243;stico&#44; intervenci&#243;n en s&#237; y evaluaci&#243;n final&#46;</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0005"></elsevierMultimedia><span id="sec0005" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0030">Diagn&#243;stico</span><p id="par0050" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Como paso inicial&#44; se llev&#243; a cabo una reuni&#243;n con las madres&#47;responsables de los ni&#241;os en la que se explic&#243; de manera detallada el prop&#243;sito cient&#237;fico de la investigaci&#243;n&#44; se describi&#243; la metodolog&#237;a de trabajo&#44; la problem&#225;tica que se abordar&#237;a y se detall&#243; el consentimiento informado que deb&#237;an aceptar todos los que desearan participar libremente&#46; Mediante un cuestionario dise&#241;ado <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">ad hoc</span>&#44; se realiz&#243; la evaluaci&#243;n inicial de los conocimientos previos de las madres participantes respecto de las parasitosis intestinales y su prevenci&#243;n &#40;pretest&#41;&#46; El cuestionario incluy&#243; preguntas en relaci&#243;n con los par&#225;sitos&#44; los s&#237;ntomas&#44; los mecanismos de transmisi&#243;n y las formas de prevenci&#243;n de las parasitosis intestinales&#46;</p></span><span id="sec0010" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0035">Intervenci&#243;n</span><p id="par0055" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">La propuesta educativa se dise&#241;&#243; seg&#250;n las necesidades identificadas en la etapa de diagn&#243;stico&#46; Se escogi&#243; como estrategia de acci&#243;n la modalidad de talleres participativos y actividades l&#250;dico-pedag&#243;gicas&#46; Durante este per&#237;odo&#44; se desarrollaron los siguientes talleres&#58; 1&#41; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Enemigos invisibles en nuestros alimentos&#46; Los par&#225;sitos intestinales&#46;</span> 2&#41; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Aprendiendo m&#225;s sobre los enemigos invisibles&#46; &#191;C&#243;mo se transmiten los par&#225;sitos intestinales&#63;</span> 3&#41; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">No puedo verte&#44; pero ya s&#233; que puedes estar en los alimentos&#46; Me prevengo&#8230;</span> 4&#41; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Siete pasos para combatir los enemigos invisibles&#46;</span> Durante el desarrollo de los diferentes talleres se busc&#243; facilitar la comprensi&#243;n del concepto de parasitosis&#44; su v&#237;nculo directo con el ambiente&#44; los factores de riesgo de infecci&#243;n&#44; las estrategias de prevenci&#243;n y los mitos y realidades que existen sobre las infecciones parasitarias&#46; Se utilizaron diferentes t&#233;cnicas educativas a fin de alcanzar los objetivos propuestos&#58; actividades l&#250;dicas&#44; video-debate&#44; discusi&#243;n grupal&#44; taller de trabajo por equipos&#44; demostraci&#243;n y charlas educativas&#46;</p></span><span id="sec0015" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0040">Evaluaci&#243;n final</span><p id="par0060" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Finalizada la intervenci&#243;n educativa&#44; se volvi&#243; a aplicar un segundo cuestionario que incluy&#243; las mismas variables de estudio de la etapa inicial o de diagn&#243;stico &#40;postest&#41;&#46; De este modo se pudieron evaluar los cambios ocurridos en el nivel de conocimientos de los responsables de los ni&#241;os participantes&#46;</p></span><span id="sec0020" class="elsevierStyleSection elsevierViewall"><span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle" id="sect0045">Evaluaci&#243;n del estado enteroparasitol&#243;gico</span><p id="par0065" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Se realizaron ex&#225;menes coproparasitol&#243;gicos seriados de materia fecal y escobillado anal en ni&#241;os asistidos en los CDI&#46; Antes de esto&#44; se explic&#243; a las madres&#47;responsables&#44; de manera detallada el proceso de recolecci&#243;n de las muestras&#46; Las muestras fueron colectadas en cada CDI y trasladadas en el plazo de 24<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>h al laboratorio de la C&#225;tedra de Parasitolog&#237;a y Micolog&#237;a de la Facultad de Bioqu&#237;mica y Ciencias Biol&#243;gicas en la Universidad Nacional del Litoral&#44; donde se procesaron dentro de dicho lapso&#46; Para el an&#225;lisis de las muestras de materia fecal&#44; se utiliz&#243; la t&#233;cnica de sedimentaci&#243;n-centrifugaci&#243;n de Ritchie&#46; Los escobillados anales fueron centrifugados a 400&#160;x<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">g</span> durante 10 minutos a fin de obtener un sedimento con la mayor concentraci&#243;n posible para la b&#250;squeda de <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Enterobius vermicularis&#46;</span> La identificaci&#243;n de par&#225;sitos se realiz&#243; teniendo en cuenta caracter&#237;sticas morfol&#243;gicas y morfom&#233;tricas&#46; A cada muestra se le hizo un an&#225;lisis por examen directo con soluci&#243;n de lugol al 1&#37; y la b&#250;squeda de estructuras parasitarias se hizo empleando microscopio &#243;ptico&#44; con objetivos secos de 10X y 40X&#46; Se realizaron coloraciones de Ziehl-Neelsen para la b&#250;squeda de coccidios intestinales y coloraci&#243;n tricr&#243;mica en aquellos casos que requirieron la identificaci&#243;n diferencial de protozoos pat&#243;genos&#44; en particular&#44; para la identificaci&#243;n de estadios de <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Dientamoeba fragilis</span> y de <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Entamoeba histolytica&#47;dispar&#46;</span> La informaci&#243;n recopilada se carg&#243; en una base de datos especialmente dise&#241;ada en Microsoft Office Excel 2010 &#40;Microsoft&#44; Microsoft 365&#44; Microsoft Argentina&#41;&#46; Para el an&#225;lisis estad&#237;stico&#44; se utiliz&#243; el programa SPSS &#40;Massachusetts Institute of Technology&#44; Free trial&#46; Waltham&#44; EE&#46; UU&#46;&#41;&#44; versi&#243;n 11&#46;5&#46;</p><p id="par0070" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Se calcul&#243; la prevalencia general de parasitosis intestinales&#44; as&#237; como tambi&#233;n la prevalencia relativa&#44; la riqueza espec&#237;fica &#40;n&#250;mero de especies par&#225;sitas&#41; y el porcentaje de monoparasitados&#44; biparasitados y pluriparasitados &#40;tres o m&#225;s especies par&#225;sitas por hospedero&#41;&#46; Todas las actividades se llevaron a cabo mediante t&#233;cnicas sencillas&#44; no invasivas&#44; sin afectar la integridad f&#237;sica o moral de las personas&#46; Se dio atenci&#243;n a lo establecido por la Ley Nacional N&#46;&#176; 25&#46;326 de protecci&#243;n de datos personales&#46; Los resultados de los an&#225;lisis fueron digitalizados y enviados a cada CDI de forma inmediata&#44; de manera que aquellos ni&#241;os parasitados pudieran recibir la atenci&#243;n m&#233;dica adecuada&#46; Para asegurar la confidencialidad de la informaci&#243;n&#44; a los CDI se los mencionar&#225; con n&#250;meros &#40;CDI-1&#44; CDI-2 y CDI-3&#41; en los p&#225;rrafos que siguen&#46;</p><p id="par0075" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">La intervenci&#243;n educativa se realiz&#243; entre abril y octubre de 2018&#46; Durante este per&#237;odo fueron evaluadas un total de 36 madres antes y despu&#233;s de la intervenci&#243;n educativa&#59; 16 pertenec&#237;an al CDI-1&#44; 13 al CDI-2 y 7 al CDI-3&#46; Para evaluar los conocimientos maternos sobre enfermedades parasitarias&#44; se realiz&#243; el an&#225;lisis de varianza de un factor&#46; Mediante la prueba <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">t</span> para medias de dos muestras pareadas&#44; se compar&#243; el promedio de respuestas correctas en la muestra materna antes y despu&#233;s de la intervenci&#243;n educativa&#46; En todos los an&#225;lisis se consider&#243; estad&#237;sticamente significativo un valor <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#60;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;05&#46;</p><p id="par0080" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Se observ&#243; que en el an&#225;lisis pretest no exist&#237;an diferencias significativas entre los promedios de respuesta correctas en los tres centros &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;4561&#41;&#44; por lo cual se parti&#243; de una base de conocimientos semejantes&#46; Los promedios de respuestas correctas discriminados por preguntas que se obtuvieron en el pretest y el postest para el total de la muestra materna &#40;n<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>36&#41; se muestran en la <a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0010">tabla 2</a>&#46; Se pudo observar un aumento estad&#237;sticamente significativo &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;008742&#41; en el promedio global de respuestas correctas luego de la intervenci&#243;n&#46; Los resultados de la intervenci&#243;n educativa discriminados por CDI muestran un incremento estad&#237;sticamente significativo del conocimiento en el CDI-1 &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;00196&#41; y el CDI-3 &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;01813&#41;&#46; En el caso del CDI-2&#44; se pudo advertir el efecto inverso al esperado&#44; es decir&#44; una disminuci&#243;n no significativa &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;46867&#41; del promedio de respuestas correctas despu&#233;s de la intervenci&#243;n educativa&#46;</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0010"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0085" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Las tem&#225;ticas en las que fue posible apreciar una mejora en el nivel de conocimiento de las madres o responsables abarcaron qu&#233; son los par&#225;sitos &#40;pretest 36&#37;&#59; postest 61&#37;&#41;&#44; cu&#225;les son los s&#237;ntomas del parasitismo &#40;pretest 61&#37;&#59; postest 83&#37;&#41; y cu&#225;les son los mecanismos de infecci&#243;n &#40;pretest 64&#37;&#59; postest 81&#37;&#41;&#46; En relaci&#243;n con los estudios parasitol&#243;gicos&#44; se analizaron a 48 ni&#241;os durante el per&#237;odo abril-octubre de 2018&#46; Del total&#44; 20 se encontraban matriculados en el CDI-1&#44; 16 en el CDI-2 y 12 en el CDI-3&#46; Se confirm&#243; la presencia de enteropar&#225;sitos en el 54&#44;2&#37; &#40;26&#47;48&#41;&#46; Entre los parasitados&#44; el 22&#44;9&#37; &#40;n<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>11&#41; ten&#237;an menos de dos a&#241;os&#44; mientras que el 31&#44;2&#37; &#40;n<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>15&#41; ten&#237;an de 2 a 5 a&#241;os&#46; El 73&#44;1&#37; &#40;n<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>19&#41; fueron de sexo masculino&#46; El porcentaje de parasitados en cada CDI result&#243; elevado&#44; 60&#37; &#40;12&#47;20&#41; en el CDI-1&#44; 56&#44;2&#37; &#40;9&#47;16&#41; en el CDI-2 y 41&#44;6&#37; &#40;5&#47;12&#41; en el CDI-3&#44; aunque no se pudo establecer una diferencia estad&#237;sticamente significativa&#46;</p><p id="par0090" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Se identific&#243; solo una especie parasitaria en el 37&#44;50&#37; &#40;n<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>18&#47;48&#41; de los testeados&#59; el 10&#37; &#40;5&#47;48&#41; estaban biparasitados y un 6&#37; &#40;3&#47;48&#41; estaban pluriparasitados&#46; Se encontraron ocho especies parasitarias diferentes&#58; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Blastocystis</span> sp<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">&#46;</span> &#40;27&#44;08&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Giardia intestinalis</span> &#40;14&#44;58&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Ascaris lumbricoides</span> &#40;12&#44;50&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Dientamoeba fragilis</span> &#40;8&#44;32&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Entamoeba coli</span> &#40;4&#44;16&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Enterobius vermicularis</span> &#40;4&#44;16&#37;&#41;&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Endolimax nana</span> &#40;2&#44;08&#37;&#41; y <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Cryptosporidium</span> sp<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">&#46;</span> &#40;2&#44;08&#37;&#41;&#46; Entre los protozoos&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">G&#46; intestinalis</span> y <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Blastocystis</span> sp<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">&#46;</span> fueron los m&#225;s frecuentes&#44; en tanto que <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">A&#46; lumbricoides</span> y <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">E&#46; vermicularis</span> fueron los &#250;nicos helmintos encontrados&#46; En la <a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#tbl0015">tabla 3</a> se describe la distribuci&#243;n porcentual de las especies parasitarias y los par&#225;sitos intestinales encontrados en los biparasitados y pluriparasitados&#46;</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="tbl0015"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0095" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Los resultados de nuestro trabajo constituyen una fase preliminar que fortalece el concepto de la intervenci&#243;n educativa como recurso did&#225;ctico &#250;til para mejorar el conocimiento sobre las parasitosis intestinales y su prevenci&#243;n&#46; Los participantes del proyecto lograron articular sus saberes previos con los conocimientos t&#233;cnico-cient&#237;ficos abordados en los talleres participativos y las actividades l&#250;dico-pedag&#243;gicas&#44; lo que favoreci&#243; un mejor entendimiento de las parasitosis intestinales&#44; que se vio reflejado en los resultados postest &#40;<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">p</span><span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>&#61;<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>0&#44;008742&#41;&#46; El mayor impacto se observ&#243; en t&#233;rminos de conocimiento sobre qu&#233; son los par&#225;sitos&#44; cu&#225;les son los s&#237;ntomas de parasitismo y los mecanismos de infecci&#243;n&#46; Extender este tipo de an&#225;lisis a otras comunidades&#44; centros escolares y &#225;reas de salud nos permitir&#225; superar algunas limitaciones de este estudio&#44; como el bajo n&#250;mero de la muestra para la implementaci&#243;n de la intervenci&#243;n l&#250;dica o la falta de seguimiento del impacto de estas actividades en los cambios de comportamiento a largo plazo&#46;</p><p id="par0100" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Los resultados de nuestro trabajo est&#225;n en l&#237;nea con los obtenidos por otros autores en distintos pa&#237;ses de Latinoam&#233;rica y del mundo<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0090"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">3&#44;4&#44;12</span></a>&#46; Como ejemplo&#44; podemos mencionar una intervenci&#243;n educativa sobre adolescentes en Hait&#237;&#44; donde se consigui&#243; mejorar significativamente el nivel de conocimiento sobre parasitismo intestinal&#44; formas de infecci&#243;n y medidas de prevenci&#243;n<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0100"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">5</span></a>&#44; o el abordaje de Zainab Abedzaid<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0080"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> con intervenciones educativas sobre infecciones parasitarias y dise&#241;os cuasiexperimentales pretest y postest&#46;</p><p id="par0105" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">En Argentina&#44; las parasitosis intestinales en poblaciones infantiles muestran una distribuci&#243;n heterog&#233;nea&#44; con prevalencias variadas&#44; que responden al complejo mosaico de variabilidad clim&#225;tica y socioecon&#243;mica del pa&#237;s y revelan una tendencia descendente de norte a sur y de este a oeste<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0115"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">8&#44;11</span></a>&#46; En este trabajo&#44; pr&#225;cticamente en la mitad de los ni&#241;os estudiados se hall&#243; parasitismo intestinal &#40;54&#44;16&#37;&#41; y las especies paras&#237;ticas m&#225;s frecuentes fueron <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">G&#46; intestinalis</span>&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Blastocystis</span> spp<span class="elsevierStyleItalic">&#46;</span> y <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">A&#46; lumbricoides</span>&#46; Tambi&#233;n se evidenci&#243; en nuestro an&#225;lisis un predominio de protozoos en relaci&#243;n con helmintos &#40;77&#44;7&#37; vs&#46; 22&#44;3&#37;&#44; respectivamente&#41;&#44; lo que difiere de lo informado por algunos estudios previos realizados en Santa Fe y en otras regiones argentinas<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0085"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2</span></a>&#46; En Argentina&#44; <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">G&#46; intestinalis</span> y <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">A&#46; lumbricoides</span> suelen ser los agentes parasitarios causantes de enfermedades ent&#233;ricas m&#225;s frecuentemente encontrados&#44; tanto en materia fecal de personas como en el ambiente<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0105"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">6&#44;11</span></a>&#46;</p><p id="par0110" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">La intervenci&#243;n educativa sobre parasitosis intestinales y su prevenci&#243;n dirigida al fragmento de la poblaci&#243;n m&#225;s postergado &#8212;a menudo carente de sistemas adecuados de disposici&#243;n de excretas y&#44; en ocasiones&#44; hasta sin agua potable&#8212; resulta una herramienta importante para aplicar en distintos centros asistenciales&#46; Nuevas investigaciones podr&#225;n extender este tipo de estudios a fin de darle continuidad al trabajo educativo y podr&#225;n corroborar si las madres asimilan y comprenden los conceptos sobre parasitismo y si&#44;
