La rinosporidiosis es una micosis causada por el Rhinospirium seeber que afecta al hombre y a algunos animales. La infección está generalmente localizada, y se caracteriza por la formación de tumoraciones del tipo pólipos, papilomas o lesiones verrugosas, las cuales son hiperplásicas y muy vascularizadas. Las lesiones son friables y pueden ser sesiles o pediculadas. Se presentan dos casos de jóvenes adolescentes, residentes en una misma área geográfica de Mozambique, que presentaban tumoraciones papilomatosas en las fosas nasales. El diagnóstico de rinosporidiosis nasal fue realizado mediante el estudio histopatológico.
The rhinosporidiosis is an illness caused by Rhinosporidium Seeber, which affects not only the man but also other animals. The usual pattern of manifestations are located and characterized either by the development of big polyps, tumours, papilomas or wart lesions. These lesions are soft and hiperplastic, highly vascular and they can be fixed or pedunculated. Our study reports two cases in young people, from the same geographical area, who showed papilomatoses tumours in the nasal cavity. The diagnoses of rhinosporidiosis nasal was done through a histopathological study.
