Nuestra experiencia clínica con el uso del citrato de sildenafilo para tratar la disfunción erectil

Resumen

Objetivo

Evaluar la respuesta y los efectos secundarios al tratamiento con Citrato de Sildenafilo en aquellos pacientes diagnosticados de disfunción eréctil candidatos a esta opción terapéutica.

Material Y MéTodos

Se evalúan 180 pacientes quienes consultaron a nuestro servicio entre noviembre de 1998 y febrero de 1999 por disfunción eréctil y se les indicó citrato de sildenafilo. La respuesta fue evaluada subjetivamente, según lo referido por el paciente al comparar su calidad de vida antes y después de utilizar el fármaco.

Resultados

De los 180 pacientes que se les indicó el citrato de sildenafilo lo iniciaron 144 (77%). De éstos el 64% manifestó una respuesta positiva con respecto a la calidad eréctil y capacidad de penetración, mientras el 36% no presentó respuesta alguna. El 26% manifestó algún efecto adverso al tratamiento, no obstante el 97% no lo abandonó por este motivo.

Conclusiones

En 180 pacientes diagnosticados de disfunción eréctil de etiología diversa encontramos que dos de cada tres responden al Sildenafilo. Uno de cada cuatro manifestó alguna sintomatología adversa, pero casi ninguno lo suspendió por este motivo.

Objective

To evaluate the response and adverse effects to treatment with Sildenefil in those patients with an erectile dysfuction who, according to our protocol, were considered as candidates for this therapeutic option.

Materials And Methods

We reviewed the clinical histories of 180 patients seen in our service from november 1988 to February 1999 as a result of an erectile dysfunction. Those patients in whom the use of Sildenefil was not contraindicated were prescribed this product at does of 50 mg. The response to treatment was subjectively evaluated based on the option of the patient when comparing his quality of life before and afte treatment.

Results

Out of 180 patients, 144 started treatment as indicated. Of these, 67% expressed a positive response, while 33% did not respond to treatment. Adverse effects were notice by 26% of patients, but in 97% of them they were not severe enough to withdraw the medication.

Conclusions

Two-thirds of 144 patients with erectile dysfunctions of heterogeneous origin responded positively to treatment with Sildenefil. One fourth of them reported some ort of adverse effect, but almost nonne of them stopped the medication for this reason.
