In 2014 the Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México celebrates 70 years of uninterrupted publication. During this time, the Hospital Infantil de México Federico Gómez (HIMFG) has provided quality care to children in Mexico. This has been achieved through the work and efforts of its personnel.

From the beginning, the commitment of the HIMFG has gone beyond medical care, expressing interest in creating knowledge through research. Therefore, and because knowledge has no effect unless it is disseminated, during the year after the inauguration of the HIMFG the Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México was created as its source of information for important pediatric themes.

During these 70 years, the journal has been responsible for disseminating the advances in pediatrics and the discoveries of medical researchers, not only from the hospital itself but from others dedicated to the care of children, both in Mexico and Latin America.

Technological advances and their impact on all areas of knowledge and development are as yet unknown. Of course, medical and scientific journals including Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México are no exception and experience the transition from paper publication and mail or courier distribution to electronic publication and distribution, such as being accomplished by Elsevier Spain.

Elsevier Spain is part of the Elsevier group, which was founded in the 17th century and is a leader in scientific publications, particularly in medical and health sciences with the publication of more than 2,000 scientific journals and 6,000 books.

In a further effort to promote the quality and dissemination of pediatric knowledge, we are pleased to inform our readers, authors and reviewers that, beginning with this first issue of 2014, the Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México will be published by Elsevier Spain.

Since January 2012, the Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México has been included in Scopus, the Elsevier bibliometric database, and now will be electronically published through the Elsevier computer interface. We envision a future of greater global visibility as well as receiving more contributions representing the global pediatric community.

We are certain that this scientific and editorial contribution will be productive for all.
