Original Article. Papers describing clinical research and other original contributions dealing with etiology, pathophysiology, anatomy, epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The length should be no more than 3000 words, counting from the title page to the end, excluding only the tables. The manuscript will be comprised of a title page, structured abstract and keywords in Spanish, structured abstract and keywords in English, list of abbreviations in Spanish and English, text, references, figure legends (optional), tables (optional) and figures (optional). No more than 10 authors should be included.
Brief Report. Only articles that include at least 10 patients will be accepted. The structure is the same as that of original articles, but the maximum length is 1800 words, excluding only the tables. The abstract must be less than 150 words and a maximum of 2 figures and 2 tables will be accepted. There should be no more than 8 authors.
Questions and Answers. A brief approach to a topic of current interest, with documented responses to the possible questions posed by the editorial board. The maximum length is 2000 words. It can be accompanied by 1 figure and 2 tables, with a maximum of 5 references. There should be no more than 3 authors.
Nursing in Cardiology. A brief original report aimed specifically for professionals involved in nursing in patients with heart disease.The general guidelines are the same as those stipulated for original articles. Up to 1500 words, 2 figures and 2 tables, a maximum of 8 references and no more than 6 authors will be accepted.
Images in Cardiology. A text of less than 150 words and a title, in Spanish and English, of fewer than 8 words. A maximum of 3 figures will be accepted, with no references or figure legends. All the symbols appearing in the images should be fully explained in the text. It should have no more than 3 authors.
Clinical Observations. A description of one or more rarely observed cases that constitute an important contribution to existing knowledge of a given process. It should be limited to 700 words, 1 figure and 1 table, a maximum of 5 references and 4 authors. It should include an abstract in Spanish and English and keywords.
Letters to the Editor. Objections or comments concerning any manuscript recently published in the journal. It should have a maximum of 700 words, 1 figure or 1 table, 5 references and 4 authors.
Scientific Letters. Observations or experiences that, given their characteristics, can be summarized in a brief text, bringing our attention to novel clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic features of any aspect of cardiovascular disease, prior to their definitive confirmation by more complete studies. They will have a maximum of 1000 words and 1 figure or table, with a maximum of 5 references and 4 authors.
The Clinician’s Corner. Manuscript that describes a practical approach to a specific patient or situation that cannot be categorized within the framework of the clinical practice guidelines and can be summarized in a brief text. The maximum will be 1000 words and 1 figure or table, with up to 5 references and 4 authors.
Window Onto Other Specialties. Seeks the acquisition of new knowledge and the establishment of a meeting place relative to the care of patients with cardiovascular disease. The maximum length is 2000 words, with a maximum of 5 references and 3 authors.
Other Sections. The journal includes other sections (Editorials, Special Articles, Progress in Cardiovascular Medicine, Reviews, Consensus Statements and Clinical Practice Guidelines) in which the articles are submitted upon the request of the editorial board. Those authors who wish to collaborate in any of these sections of their own accord should consult with the editor of the journal.
