Pancreatoduodenectomy remains a surgical challenge. Robotic platforms overcome the limitations associated with laparoscopy thanks to the 7 degrees of freedom, 3D visualization, and the reduction of fine tremor.
Some meta-analyses have demonstrated better perioperative and resection margin results with the use of the robot. Prospective, long-term studies are still necessary to compare robotic surgery with open surgery.
