Complicaciones

Accidental opening of the gallbladder during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is relatively common, with spilling of bile and gallstones to the peritoneal cavity. These gallstones may not always be easily eliminated, and rarely cause complications. When complications occur, however, they can be serious and sometimes need surgical treatment. We present a retrospective study on the management of three patients with late complications caused by abandoned gallstones after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The clinical presentation of these patients occurred months, or even years after surgery. In 100% of cases surgical treatment was necessary to resolve the problem. We also present a revision of the literature about these complications and recommendations on their management.
