We report the unusual case of a 74-year-old patient who was accustomed to consuming thyme branches in his meals. He had undergone simple cholecystectomy one year before presenting symptoms of cholangitis. Preoperative examination disclosed the presence in distal common bile duct of a branch of thyme that had served as the nidus for biliary sludge and stones. We discuss these findings as well as the treatment and outcome
