Vascular complications in inguinal hernioplasty are frequent, the most common of which is the formation of a hematoma. However, the incidence of severe vascular complications (including lesions of the femoral vessels) is much lower, estimated at around 1%.
We present a patient who developed a common femoral artery (CFA) pseudoaneurysm after inguinal hernioplasty using the Lichtenstein technique, probably related to mesh fixation during surgery (Fig. 1).
During vascular surgery, we observed a rupture of the posterior wall of the CFA, which was resolved with a graft, inserted with an end-to-end anastomosis.
