Summary

Ogilvies syndrome, or acute colonic pseudo-obstruction, is a change in intestinal motility which is characterized by progressive dilatation of the large intestine with no evidence of mechanical obstruction. The physiopathology of this entity is unknown and it is frequently to be found associated with caesarean section, and also normal deliveries. Diagnosis is made by the clinical presentation, and simple abdominal radiography.
