Summary

A retrospective study to evaluate the usefulness (sensitivity, specificity, PPV, PNV and diagnostic reliability) of large core needle biopsy in the diagnosis of palpable breast lesions (160 cases). We consider it to be useful if it makes a definitive diagnosis possible, without the need to obtain any additional tissue samples. We review the literature on this subject and analyse the advantages and disadvantages of this technique.
