The purpose of the present study was to determine the prevalence of alcohol consumption among secondary school students in Córdoba

To do this, we performed a descriptive, cross sectional study in a sample of secondary school students from the province of Cordoba during the 2001-2002 academic year. The students were selected by stratified random sampling

The results revealed that 73.4% of those surveyed reported drinking alcohol and that 40.2% drank at the weekend. The most commonly consumed drinks were cocktails. The main reasons for drinking were “to have a good time, because I like it” and “as a celebration”
