A 15 mm, elastic and erythematous nodule was observed on the right mandibular body (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>A). An oral examination revealed a root remnant of tooth 46 and periodontal disease (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>B), with palpation of a fibrous cord dependent on the mandibular vestibule with extension towards the skin lesion (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>B, asterisk). Suspecting odontogenic cutaneous fistula (OCF), a CT scan with MPR multiplanar (MPR) and volumetric (VRT) reconstructions confirmed the diagnosis, and the patient was referred to maxillofacial surgery.</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0005"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">OCF is a rare entity that is usually caused by drainage of chronic periapical periodontitis. The form of presentation is an asymptomatic umbilicated and suppurative depression over the upper or lower jaw. It may manifest as a nodule mimicking a skin tumour, delaying diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis is clinical and radiological. Differential diagnosis includes skin tumours, infections (actinomycosis, osteomyelitis) and congenital malformations. The definitive treatment is that of tooth infection.</p><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">OCF can mimic a cutaneous tumour.
