On clinical examination, erythematous plaques were seen on the toes. Under Wood's lamp, they exhibited coral-red fluorescence (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#fig0005">Figs. 1B and 2</a>, green arrows). The findings were consistent with interdigital erythrasma, and the patients were started with a single dose of 1g-clarithromycin orally, and topical 1%-clindamycin, obtaining complete response at the 1-month follow-up (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>C).</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0005"></elsevierMultimedia><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0010"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Erythrasma is a superficial skin infection caused by <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Corynebacterium minutissimum</span>, a gram-positive aerobic or facultatively anaerobic bacteria. It presents with red-brown flaky patches and usually affects the moist intertriginous areas, such as armpits, inguinal folds, and between the toes. Interdigital erythrasma can easily be confused with tinea pedis and be treated with antifungals, obtaining poor response, with unnecessary costs.</p><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Wood's lamp examination is a simple, cheap, and harmless bedside examination that narrows the differential diagnosis in erythrasma. It uses 320–450<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>nm ultraviolet light coupled to a magnifying glass.
