A blood analysis and parasite analysis of faeces were negative. A barium study of the small bowel was also conducted which showed the presence of linear and longitudinal repletion defects in the lumen of the small intestine compatible with the presence of an intestinal parasite (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>), and in the test 24<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>h after contrast's administration it can be seen throughout the small intestine's lumen; observing remnants of isolated and linear contrast in the mesogastric area which seem to correspond to barium retention by the parasite's digestive system (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0010">Fig. 2</a>).
