She consulted us for a 1.5-month history of a new-onset pruriginous mass in her right, medial, canthal area. The mass corresponded to a round, mobile, well-defined, hard lump adhered to the dermis, but not to the deeper layers, with a diameter of 1 cm (Fig. 1A). No other relevant findings were detected during her examination.</p><p id="par0010" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">A cranial computed tomography (CT) scan was performed to rule out intraorbital involvement and to determine the extent of the mass. The scan revealed a 1.5<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>×<span class="elsevierStyleHsp" style=""></span>1.5-cm hypodense, encapsulated, homogeneous lesion in the anterior, medial, region of the right eye, without bone involvement (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>B).</p><elsevierMultimedia ident="fig0005"></elsevierMultimedia><p id="par0015" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Its excision, biopsy, and both biomicroscopic and microbiological analysis were indicated. Thus, we removed an encapsulated mass (Fig. 1C) that, upon sectioning, contained a live and sexually mature helminth of the <span class="elsevierStyleItalic">Brugia malayi</span> species (Fig. 1D).</p><p id="par0020" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">Blood work was also performed, detecting an eosinophil percentage of 24.2% (normal range 0–5%) and an absolute neutrophil count of 1455.00/mm<span class="elsevierStyleSup">3</span> (normal range 0–300.00/mm<span class="elsevierStyleSup">3</span>).</p><p id="par0025" class="elsevierStylePara elsevierViewall">The patient was treated with a single 200-g/kg dose of ivermectin and a single 400-mg dose of albendazole, exhibiting a subsequent favorable clinical evolution.</p></span>" "pdfFichero" => "main.pdf" "tienePdf" => true "NotaPie" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "etiqueta" => "☆" "nota" => "<p class="elsevierStyleNotepara" id="npar0005">Please cite this article as: Sánchez-Vela L, Garrido-Marín M, Sánchez-Dalmau BF.
