Summary

The splenic artery is the third most common site of intra-abdominal aneurysm formation after the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries. Splenic artery aneurysms constitute approximately 60% of all visceral arterial aneurysms. The risk of rupture, generally given as 3%-5%, rises to over 20% in pregnancy, with a maternal and fetal mortality rate of 75% and 95%, respectively. Approximately 100 cases of ruptured splenic artery aneurysm in pregnancy have been reported in the literature. However, mother and fetus have survived in only 14 of these cases.
