Abstract

It is well known that different factors affect breast cancer prognosis such as tumor size, histological grade, and lymph node metastases but very little is known out morphological factors

Invasive micropapillary carcinoma is a rare variant of infiltrating ductal carcinoma that has been related to an extremely high incidence of lymph node metastases due to its highly vasotrophic nature. Because this phenotype implies a poor prognosis, early recognition of this type of tumor is important. While some authors advise against conservative treatment, in the few series that have been reported, usually of patients classified retrospectively, there is a lack of consensus on appropriate surgical treatment. The case we describe herein provides further data on the aggressiveness of this tumor
