Abstract

Isolated imperforate hymen, without other genitourinary disorders, is a rare congenital malformation with an estimated incidence of between 0.1% and 0.014%. Diagnosis in the context of primary amenorrhea accompanied by cyclic lower pelvic pain should include abdominopelvic ultrasonography. We report the case of a 14-yearold girl who presented to the emergency service complaining of lower abdominal pain. After physical examination and diagnosis, ultrasonographic images were highly useful in the preoperative evaluation.
