Retrograde gastrojejunal intussusception (GJI), an uncommon com-plication after Billroth II surgery, is exceptional in the absence of pre-vious surgery. In acute presentation, the least common type, rapiddiagnosis is fundamental, as generally is early surgical correction.Diagnosis is usually established by surgical intervention, under emer-gency conditions in the context of acute abdomen, or endoscopic exa-mination. There are few descriptions of the features shown by the dif-ferent imaging methods and we have found only two references inwhich ultrasound is described as a technique capable of establishingthe diagnosis. We present the case of a patient with retrograde GJI, de-tected 36 years after surgery, in which ultrasound led to a rapid andsimple diagnosis. The ultrasonographic findings are described in detailand the epidemiological and clinical aspects of this uncommon, butimportant, entity are discussed.
